Rosary Magic Town – Sinaloa

Del Rosario is a small town located in the southern part of the State of Sinaloa. He is head of the municipality of Rosario. According to the 2010 census, had a population of 16 thousand habitants.


The name of this population of the State of Sinaloa, is both its largest population, and also for the whole municipality. It is located in the southern region of Sinaloa territory. It borders to the North with the municipalities of Mazatlan and harmony; to the South it is bordered by Escuinapa and the State of Nayarit; to the East with the duranguense territory, and to the West with the waters of the Pacific Ocean.

The Foundation of the city took place the day August 3, 1655. This event is surrounded by an interesting anecdote. On such date a caporal, Bonifacio Rojas, he realized that a beef was missing and went to look for it. It advanced along the River until you reach the Loma de Santiago. There he found the beef that had escaped him. As he had done at night, Rojas decided to light a bonfire. The next day, after waking up, a big surprise was: while he removed the remains of a bonfire, discovered a huge amount of silver fused, glued to a penalty. Before giving hasty announcement of his discovery to his employer, the caporal decided to leave a string to identify the site that had been found.

Pattern, excited by what he had discovered his caporal, ran where the Rosary was to check and see the silver, made a run in the penalty and began the exploitation of this precious metal. That resulted in the birth of the city of Rosario.

El Rosario is currently a magical town that has managed to stay alive. It is located about 70 kilometres from the port of Mazatlan. Among the most important figures of El Rosario should mention the vernacular singer Lola Beltran, who had a great affection for this community of Sinaloa. Some important communities in the region are Pozole, Chameta, Agua Verde, Los Ojitos and fog. They are places of tourist interest, for livestock, fishing, and agricultural activity that define this part of the country.

Among the tourist treasures of the magical people of the Rosary should be mentioned the following: the Church of our Lady of the Rosary, the House of Lola Beltran and the Museum of the Totorames culture, in Chametla.

They are also must-see beaches of El Caimanero, beautiful Iguanero lagoon, the historic centre of El Rosario, the mines of the Tagus and the levee of the river stronghold.

The magical village of Rosario is located about 64 kilometers south of the port of Mazatlan, following federal highway 15.

Along the centuries XVIII and XIX El Rosario was a significant mining Center. In 1700, this magical town was headquarters of the powers of the area of California, Baja California and Sonora. For a long time it was a kind of city-asylum and this population is owed much, the importance of Mazatlan reached as a port. In those years San Blas in the State of Nayarit, was the most relevant port of the region, since that there are sending most of the ore obtained from El Rosario. For this reason, in 1800, support increased to help Mazatlan also as port of departure of ships laden with gold and silver.

The most important traditional celebration of El Rosario is held to celebrate the Virgen del Rosario. The latter takes place the first Sunday of October. It is also interesting and of great call, the spring fair, one of the events of its kind with more seniority in Mexico, which takes place from 1 to 10 May.
